Through the IMESAPI Group, COBRA IS has been selected by Madrid City Council’s Urbanism, Environment and Mobility Service to undertake the integral conservation of 6 municipal parks in the eastern area of the Community of Madrid. This award is batch 3 of the 7 batches put out to tender in the new service contract for integral conservation services, which classifies the spaces into unique, historical and forest parks.

The project covers the complete conservation of all the elements and infrastructures of the existing municipal green areas in the unique parks of Juan Carlos I, Juan Pablo II, La Gavia, La Atayuela and District C of Las Tablas and Árboles de Aire, totalling more than 240 hectares. The contract includes the complete integral maintenance of the vegetation and sanitation of the spaces, ensuring that they are clean and free of waste, and the maintenance of hard and soft pavements, such as roads, paths and grass areas, to guarantee that they are in good condition and are safe for citizens. In addition, the fences and enclosures will be inspected to maintain the security and delimitation of the spaces and all maintenance work on civil engineering and fountains and water features, ensuring that they are clean and work properly for the enjoyment of the community.

The contract adheres to rigorous environmental, social and economic standards in line with the UN and EU Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing climate change, reducing energy consumption, improving air quality, promoting the circular economy and conserving biodiversity. Accordingly, the project will be delivered using non-polluting vehicles and preventive pest management practices, as well as urban models that promote the reuse of resources such as mowing and pruning waste.

This approach covers all the parks, which, under the new contract, will not be mere entertainment venues, but also vital havens where nature provides direct environmental benefits to citizens, thus improving quality of life and urban sustainability.
